The Compaq dc5100 Microtower was a desktop computer manufactured by Hewlett-Packard Co. The dc5100 line was marketed toward the corporate and small business market. Compaq dc5100 MT computers came equipped with a choice between the Windows XP, SuSE Linux Personal 9.2, Turbolinux 10D and FreeDOS operating systems. The dc5100 MT also came with a three-year warranty that covered parts, labor and technical support. The computer is discontinued.

Identification
The dc5100 MT measured 14.4 inches tall, 6.88 inches wide and 16.55 inches deep. Standard system configurations weighed 24 lbs. HP sold the dc5100 MT with a built-in 300-watt passive PFC power supply. An 80-mm variable speed fan cooled the system. All configurations of the dc5100 MT shipped with a wired keyboard and mouse.
Processor
HP sold the Compaq dc5100 MT with a choice between several different Intel Celeron and Intel Pentium 4 processors. Base models featured an Intel Celeron D 331 processor clocked at 2.66 gigahertz with 256KB of Level 2 cache and a 533-MHz front-side bus speed. The fastest available Celeron processor was the Celeron D 351, which featured a clock speed of 3.20 GHz, 256KB of L2 cache and a front-side bus speed of 533 MHz. The fastest available Pentium 4 processor was the Pentium 4 661. It featured a clock speed of 3.60 GHz, 2MB of L2 cache and a front-side bus speed of 800 MHz.
Memory and Storage
Base versions of the dc5100 MT came standard with 256MB of PC2-3200 or PC2-4200 DDR2 RAM, upgradeable to a maximum of 4GB. For storage, base versions of the computer came equipped with 40GB Serial ATA 7200-rpm hard drives. HP offered 80GB, 160GB and 250GB hard drives as optional upgrades. The dc5100 MT also featured an optional 1.44MB floppy disk drive.
Multimedia
For graphics, the dc5100 MT came standard with the NVIDIA Quadro NVS 55 graphics card. The Quadro NVS 55 featured 64MB of RAM and a TV output. HP offered the more powerful NVIDIA Quadro NVS 280 as an optional upgrade. For audio, the dc5100 MT relied on an integrated ADI 1981B AC97-compliant audio controller. Other multimedia devices available with the dc5100 MT included an integrated 16-in-1 media card reader and a choice between five different optical CD and DVD drives.
Connectivity and Expansion
HP built the Compaq dc5100 MT with two ways to connect to the Internet. The first was a 2006 Agere PCI 56K International SoftModem, and the second was an integrated Ethernet card. Additional connections and ports available on the dc5100 MT included two serial ports, one IEEE 1394 Firewire port, one parallel port, one 15-pin VGA connection, eight USB 2.0 ports, a pair of 3.5-mm microphone inputs, one line-in jack, one line-out jack and one 3.5-mm headphone output.
