I need help to resolve this issue. After installing the upgrade to Windows 10 Home from Windows 7, my Ethernet connection does not work on two of my three laptops. Both those laptops have the same LAN controller type, Realtek PCLe FE Family Controller. The third laptop uses a different ethernet controller and works fine.
From this point forward, all info refers to my main laptop which is one of the two above that have this issue. Inside Control Panel>Network Connections, it shows Ethernet as: Unidentified Network, Realtek PCle FE Family Controller. When I use Windows Network Diagnostics, it reports the problem as “Ethernet” doesn’t have a valid IP configuration. I have searched through all the Microsoft Windows 10 community forums and nothing found there works, including ipconfig /flushdns, ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew, etc.
I have also tried this: Type the following commands in the Command Prompt window and press Enter after each line:
- netsh winsock reset catalog
- netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log
- netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log
- reboot the computer
Here is the command prompt info:

Sucessfully reset the Winsock Catalog.
You must restart the computer in order to complete the reset.

After completing the above reset actions, I rebooted and nothing has changed, the Ethernet adapter still does not work.
I have downloaded and installed the latest realtek driver form the company website:
- driver date 7/23/2015
- version 10.3.723.2015
and it still gives me the same error.
Here is the printout of ipconfig. Note that it does not show a default gateway for the Ethernet adapter and that a Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address is being generated:
